The plans we had for the completion of the extension at the front of the abbey had to be dropped after the onslaught of the Covid epidemic due to the steep rise of building costs. The community has more recently decided to continue with the project but with more simplified plans.
- What is involved is a new Reception Area, Tea Room and Shop and public toilets, and some alterations to the present Guest Wing.
- In addition to that it was decided to renovate the Church. The Church is the focus of every monastery. Our present Church had been originally designed as the monastic library. The new plans now aim to make the Church more obviously the Sacred Centre of the monastery. It is hoped the building work can begin in 2026.
